Our Vision back to top
Four Corners Montessori Academy will use the proven effectiveness of the Montessori educational model to teach a broad spectrum of students, successfully nurturing each child on their journey towards knowledge. Teachers will "follow the child", and, through the use of the Montessori method and materials, will be able to find ways to best encourage each student's learning style and individual talents. Multi-age classrooms will stimulate personal growth without stigma, and teachers will truly get to know and be able to help their students, staying with them for three-year periods. Students will work within a cooperative environment of support with their peers, teachers and parents. The result will be an Academy graduate who has learned how to truly respect others and to be respected, who has become a confident learner, and who has amassed a body of knowledge that can lead and support the graduate for the rest of his/her life.
Parent Information back to top
Parents are essential to a student’s success in school and throughout life. Four Corners Montessori Academy values the contributions parents make in the classroom and provide many opportunities for parents to participate in school activities. Newsletters, classroom letters, and the school web site are utilized to keep parents informed in upcoming events. Four Corners Montessori Academy asks that each family strive to contribute 15 hours per school year to service in the school community.
Some ways families can participate is by:
-
Helping their child with homework and providing home support for learning
- Contributing specialized skills to the school through opportunities as they arise
- Volunteering for field trips, classroom projects, book fairs, athletic programs, etc.
- Participating in school committees
- Attending parent meetings and school community meetings
- Participating in after-hours informal parent education programs that are designed to guide you through the journey of helping your child discover and enjoy a lifetime of learning
- Supporting FCMA's Parent Teacher Organization
FCMA is a member of the Madison Heights and Royal Oak Chambers of Commerce.
