Areas of Focus
FCMA's Triangle of Student Support
Focus on Classroom Support
This group supports classrooms as requested by teachers. This is an opportunity for families that prefer to be involved in the classroom.
- Supports activities occurring in the classroom. Members of the committee will volunteer in the classroom in a variety of ways, including shopping for materials or supplies, collecting and preparing materials, and other activities.
- Good for occasional involvement after school hours. Work may include emails or making phone calls.
- You may also participate by giving your name to your classroom’s Classroom Liaison to fill the short-notice needs of your classroom as they arise.
- A Classroom Liaison for each classroom is appointed yearly by the lead teacher. This person is a contact parent for all parents in their classroom. They assist their classroom in coordinating volunteers, contributions, collecting funds for purchasing materials and anything else as needs arise identified by the teachers. They also will be required to attend or send a representative in their absence, so each classroom has a presence at FIP-PG meetings. Then, they are responsible for sending a note the the families in the classroom keeping them up to date on FIP-PG efforts.
Focus on Communications & Appreciation
This group supports FMCA by enhancing and promoting the reputation and success of the school, and for the effective promotion of events through newsletters, blogs, website, press releases, posters, postcards, school apparel, etc.
- Parents confident in communication skills, like writing, graphics, editing, or research and development skills are encouraged to join.
- Appreciation often appeals to parents who help support staff on days when they may be at school all day without a break, or on cold drop-off/pickup duty. They also handle school “appreciation” events, like staff or volunteer appreciation days.
- Good for occasional involvement after school hours. Work may include emails or making phone calls.
Focus on Fundraising
This committee is responsible for raising school FIP-PG funds every year.
This committee is vital to our school, and all parents are highly encouraged to participate at any level possible.
Parents with limited time can participate easily in this committee by volunteering to work at an event, or soliciting donations on behalf of the school.
Focus on Building and Beautification
This committee works with the school leadership on interior and exterior functional and aesthetic improvement projects. This group will work to prioritize our school's many competing goals for the property in conjunction with the school staff, and promote and recruit much of the labor to get projects done.
Building and Beautification helps FCMA meet the criteria for certification as a Michigan Green School.
Those with experience or interest in landscaping, maintenance, decorating, art, and eco-friendly processes are especially suited for this committee.
Community Building Events
The Events Committee schedules, plans, coordinates and implements school community building events. Event planning is a great opportunity for family members who are not available during the day to be involved. Meetings can be kept to a minimum (or conducted via email). Event Planning has a need for everything! Your involvement may be a variety of what works best for you. The needs range from planning, making phone calls, gathering donations or materials, to doing research and more!
Events we plan can include: Harvest Dance, Roller Skate Nights, Potlucks, and the end-of-the-year carnival.
Some events may generate some passive fundraising which will be contributed to the pool managed by the Fundraising Committee.

Devon, PreschoolI like reading books in my class and I like to draw. I also like saying the pledge of allegiance to the American flag.
